Wooden men [Nov. 20th, 2007|11:23 pm]
I handed in my first real bit of computer animation last week. It's insane how long 10 seconds takes.

Here it is (5 MB).

Here's to Marc's somatic cells, which are thus far continuing to replicate properly! And here's to many more years of error-free replication! Bravo!

PS. Do you guys know how old he's turning?

Good old internet translations, nothin' beats that! [Apr. 20th, 2007|12:12 am]
One thing I'm addicted to is going through my web stats to see where my hits are coming from. It's quite narcissistic. And also depressing when I find people that don't like my stuff. Anyway, sometimes I'll even use Babelfish to translate foreign referrers. My favourite so far is from Russia:

Gesundheit! Quotation mileyshiy platformer in the style of pencil sketch from Matt Hammill. Task: governing suckling-pig, to entice malicious monsters into the trap, avoiding to fall in this case in the field of the sight of our enemies. It should be noted that the life in the ecologically unfavorable medium led to the development in khryushki of terrible allergy, which gives to us at the disposal unique tool on the manipulation with the behavior of the monsters: suckling-pig can "erupt" up to the specific distances the fair amounts of the sopley (it is separately effective - nadyshavshis' flower pollen), which, judging by everything, are for the sharp-toothed creatures the tastiest dainty. Competently using the architecture of levels and "the feeding indicated", it will not comprise the special labor to pass this wonderful igrushentsiyu.

Stone rain on my parade. [Apr. 19th, 2007|11:07 pm]
I got my brother some Magic cards for his birthday. I got him the red core deck. We played today, and he beat my blue core deck four times in a row with scores like 22 to 0 and 29 to 0. It's ridiculous. The decks have to be unfair. Stupid Wizards of the Coast! You lose so many times in a row it doesn't even feel like losing any more. It just feels natural. Ugh!

I know! I'll buy more cards! More more more!

Gesundheit! Demo 1.0 [Mar. 14th, 2007|03:58 pm]
Finished my game demo! If you played the beta version last time, a lot of it's the same, but it has way more music, some new level graphics, a couple new levels at the start, and a bunch of minor gameplay tweaks. And an epic back-story, which is canon. Tell all your friends! Crash my server! Download locations (and screenshots and animated gifs) can be found at underwaterbase.com.

Another show... [Jan. 28th, 2007|03:41 pm]
It never occurred to me before to desire a house, but today Emily and I went walking by Casa Loma, and it would be kind of nice to reign over a domain like that.

Also, me and Marc and Joe are playing another show on Tuesday, at Supermarket in Kensington Market (map here). I dunno when we'll go on, probably 8:30 or 9 or so, since we'll be first. I read in NOW that the cover will be five bucks. This will be kind of like a "greatest hits" show, with us playing through fan favourites and classics from our first couple albums, so it should be a good time!

EDIT: Uh... that was a joke, since we, uh, don't have any albums... or fan favourites...
